Silvio was born in Milan in 1970. The artistic studies takes him to attain a Scenography degree at the Academy of Fine Arts. In this context, photography courses arouse in him a growing interest, combined with an innate passion.
The photograph combines sensitivity, instinct, technology and was soon elected as instrument of expression.
Always fond of the animal world and nature in all its aspects, he prefers the boundless African areas, with all their protagonists. Animals must be taken in their natural setting without any human interference. Research and waiting are part of the same action.
The landscape aims to be a vision, absolutely wild places. Light effects, contrasts have to characterize the image, creating a pleasant effect.
Silvio is also attracted by the human portrait, especially by people of indigenous ethnic groups, in their daily life. Familiar scenes, business or the simple look of a child.
His photography tries to enclose an expressionist aspect, painterly art movement long studied and beloved.
‘Fine art’ mood often derives from his academic training, sometimes with a touch of flair.
The study continues with the use of the black/white, a more intimate work. Images want to convey ‘pathos’, with their gray scales. His black/white can of course be extended to the various categories of subjects, whether they are animals, people, landscapes and objects.
In his travels Silvio researches, like at home in Italy, the essence of beauty, formal balance in the path of life.
You have to love what you are shooting.
